My Story

I didn't come to this work through a classroom first. I came to it through my own body.

In the early 2000s, I spent a year on a waiting list for a hysterectomy I'd been told wasn't urgent, while my body told a very different story. Fibroids were causing extreme symptoms, the hormone treatment meant to help only threw my own hormones into chaos, and month after month I waited in that strange gap between knowing something is badly wrong and being able to have it put right.

Reiki was what carried me through that year. Not a physical cure. It didn't shrink a single fibroid or move me up the list. But week by week, it steadied me when very little else could. I'd arrive at a session frightened and worn thin, and leave calmer, warmer, more myself. When the surgery finally came, my consultant told me the fibroids were larger than any scan had shown. My body had been telling the truth the whole time.

That experience changed the course of my life. I trained as a Reiki Master myself, because what had held me through the waiting had left too deep a mark to walk away from.

In 2009 our small family left the UK for Portugal, trading Cornish life for a sunnier, simpler rural pace on the Silver Coast, and it's here that Bo-tanics Aroma-Herbary has born. For six years, I worked alongside former nurse, Jennie Lowes as co-founder of The Barefoot Healers, and I carry that partnership's spirit of whole-person care into my own practice today.

From there, in 2024, I began training as a Herbal Medicine Consultant with Bonny Casel at the School of Natural Medicine in the UK, wanting to understand the plants and remedies that could support the body as thoroughly as Reiki had supported me.

What I Believe

I'm not a healer. What I offer is support: herbs, remedies, Reiki, and the space to be properly tended to. Real healing happens in you. My work is to help you find balance and peace, so your body can find its own way back.

Herbalism

As a qualified Herbal Medicine Consultant, I work with the whole person, not just the symptom. Drawing on traditional plant knowledge and modern understanding, I build programmes that genuinely fit your life. Herbs offer a gentle, intelligent way back to balance.

Reiki

Reiki works with the energy flowing through your body, clearing blockages and restoring balance. I practise the Usui Shiki Ryoho method, offering in-person and distance treatments, often with chakra balancing, crystal healing and sound therapy woven in. I also offer Reiki training for those who want to carry this practice forward themselves.

Aromatherapy

Scent is one of the fastest routes to the nervous system. I work with pure essential oils to support emotional balance and overall wellbeing. Aromatherapy runs through much of what I do, from the Soul Aura mists I make by hand to the oils I recommend within a herbal programme.

Flower Essences

Flower essences work subtly and deeply, addressing the emotional patterns that often sit beneath physical symptoms. I use Bach Flower Remedies and create bespoke blends tailored to what's showing up for you. Gentle enough for anyone, including children and animals.

Crystal Therapy

Crystals carry their own distinct frequency, and when placed with intention, they can help shift stagnant energy, calm an overactive system or amplify what's already moving in the right direction. I use crystal therapy as part of my energy work, both within Reiki sessions and as a standalone layer in a healing programme.

Colour Therapy

Colour speaks to us long before words do. In a colour therapy session, I begin by seeing which colours you naturally resonate with, then test each chakra to find where colour is lacking or out of balance. From there, we work to restore what's missing, through colour itself, and through the foods, surroundings and practices that carry it. It's a quiet, revealing way of listening to what the body is asking for.

Moon Cycle Work

Sound Therapy

Sound reaches the body before the mind has time to resist it. Specific frequencies can settle the nervous system, dissolve held tension and create a deep stillness. I weave sound into my practice as a gentle but powerful companion to my other therapies.

Nature moves in rhythms, and so do we. I time much of my work with the lunar cycle, from preparing remedies to planning the stages of a healing programme. Working with the moon rather than against it brings a natural pacing to the process, one that the body seems to recognise.
